Sticks and Stones

Band songlist

Info

Stix and Stones (or Sticks and Stones) is track #6 on Babyshambles' debut album, Down in Albion, and the track is the first of two to be credited to Doherty and Peter Wolfe. The first time fans heard Stix and Stones was in September 2003, on the Chicken Shack sessions.

Although the song was released officially by Babyshambles, it was also played live at least once with The Libertines.
In an interview in 2005, Doherty stated that "The word is more powerful than the sword. That’s what that song’s [Stix and Stones] about."

Lyrics

Now here's a tale
Tale I will tell
Bloodlust, theft and no sweet love
And a many, many things I do so well
Oh you know that that's the end
That's the end so far away down

They said that I was as good as dead
There was hope, but not hope for us together
My friend, my only friend

Oh well you know that that's the end
That's the end so far away down

Skitzoid, fame on the run
Don't look back into the motherfucking sun

Oh well you know that that's the end
That's the end so far away down

Sticks and stones may break my bones
Oh but your words they really hurt me
Sticks and stones may break my bones
Sticks and stones may break my bones
Oh but your words they really hurt me

I will begin right at the end
That's the end so far away down

....?

And you know that's the end
But there can never be an end
