Bright Young Things (formerly Dirty Pretty Things) is the name of the club night formerly hosted by Carl Barat alongside ex-girlfriend Annalisa Astarita.
Dirty Pretty Things had a monthly residency at London's Infinity club up to the venue closing. Most famously, the night saw the last ever performance of The Libertines with Peter Doherty on June 7th 2004.
Following the closure of Infinity, Dirty Pretty Things moved venue to Koko in Camden with a grand burlesque-themed launch night in July 2005, featuring the then not-quite-famous Russell Brand as compere. Early in 2004, the club held nights at various venues around the country, including Leeds, Bristol and Birmingham.
Following the formation of the band Dirty Pretty Things, the name Bright Young Things was adopted to avoid confusion.
Occasional Bright Young Things events are still held around London with Annalisa Astarita at the helm and no more involvement from Barat.
