Through the Looking Glass is a song initially recorded by The Libertines in their French sessions. It is also the title of one of the Books of Albion.
On January 13, 2009, "Through the Looking Glass" was reported to be track #6 on Peter Doherty's debut solo album, Grace/Wastelands. Prior to the album's release, the song was replaced with I Am the Rain, and instead released as a B-side to single Last of the English Roses. The official recording features Graham Coxon on guitar.
The first lyrics of earlier versions of the song, "In the morning there's a buzz of flies," are written on the first page of the Up The Bracket album booklet.

Can you hear over the buzz of flies
Between the pillows and the skies
That beg into your eyes
Through the looking glass
In between your thighs
A talking cat's no great surprise
As we go straight down the rabbit hole
There we go
I've been meaning to tell you
A sentimental thing that occurred to me
I was wanting to show you
A set of photographs
That'll make you laugh or smile
You might wanna stick one on his nose
Around his teeth, down his drug hole
There's nowhere else for teeth to go
Scottish fiver up his nose
Haven't seen his face
Since oh so long ago
I was there to sing but I didn't dare
His lips are blue, his eyes are closed
I've been meaning to tell you
A sentimental thing that occurred to me
Yeah, I was wanting to show you
A set of photographs
The moment came and went too fast
What the papers say isn't true
There's no more shouting, no more pouting for you
Older version:
In the morning there's a buzz of flies
Between the pillows and the skies
That beg into your eyes
Through the looking glass
And between your thighs
And it's written no small surprise
Let's straight down the rabbit hole
There we go
I've been meaning to tell you
A sentimental thing that occured to me
I've been waiting to show you
A set of photographs
That'll make you laugh and smile
You might wanna stick one on his nose
Around his teeth, down this drug hole of him
They've nowhere else to go
In the morning there's a buzz of flies
Between the pillows and the skies
That beg into your eyes
Through the looking glass
And between your thighs
And it's written no small surprise
Let's straight down the rabbit hole
There we go
I've been meaning to tell you
A sentimental thing that occured to me
I've been waiting to show you
A set of photographs
That'll make you laugh and smile
