Carve My Name (previously known as Love is a Graveyard), is a song written by Carl Barat with Davey Ray Moor and Leo Abrahams. It was first recorded on demos for Barat's planned solo album, which were released to and reported on by the NME in January 2010. In the article, the song was described as "sea shanty-ish". The song was debuted by Barat live at a gig 1 April 2010 at Shepherd's Bush Empire.
Carve My Name was officially released on 4 October 2010 as the fourth track on Barat's debut, self-titled, solo album.
Barat describes the song as "definitely a departure from what I've done in the past. It's all about soaring strings and melodies and it's basically a confessional really, about a waster and a womaniser and whatnot." He also says it, "was very inspired by Jeff Buckley. It describes that moment when you're all alone...with your bottle of wine. The refrain 'never speak of love again' is an illusion. Instead, he wants to talk of love."

Love is a graveyard
For nostalgia and trouble
Wickedness and trouble
Forgive me love
And I carved my name on the livers of my lovers,
The hearts of all my brothers
Forgive me love
So take away the poet's pen, and never speak of love again
Break the hands that made a pair
And never will I need to care
Anyway
And I’ve cast my stones at all the guilty others
A rubble tomb above us
Of my design
And I mark my kills with scratches on the bedpost
The bloody sheets and dirty clothes
Are English flowers across the floor
So take away the poet's pen, and never speak of love again
Break the hands that made a pair
And never will I need to care
Anyway
And I’ve carved my name on the livers of my lovers
The wives of all my brothers
Forgive me, love
So take away the poets pen, I'll never speak of love again
Break the hands that made a pair
And never will I need to care
Anyway
Never speak of love again
Never speak of love again
Never speak of love again
Never speak of love again
Never speak of love
