The Saga (or simply Saga) is track #12 on The Libertines (band) 2nd album; “The Libertines”. The track is credited to Doherty and Roundhill. The song was inspired by a letter sent to Pete Doherty by his associate Paul Roundhill, warning him of his growing drug problem. This became the first time that Doherty and Barat had not shared the writing credits equally and alone.
As well as the released version, there are also two different versions available to download via the internet. The first is a monitor mix from The Libertines album sessions, and the second is an acoustic version featuring only Doherty, which is mixed with another of his songs "Love Reign O'er Me" (AKA Love reign over me).

A problem, becomes a problem
When you let down your friends
When you let down your people
When you let down yourself
Oh, and only fools, vultures and undertakers
Will have any time for you
Oh
A problem, becomes a problem
When you lie to your friends
And you lie to your people
And you lie to yourself
And the truth's too harsh to comprehend
You just pretend there isn't a problem
I am a pimp and a slave
I dig my bed, you dig my bed
I dig my own grave
And the truth's too harsh to comprehend
You just pretend there isn't a problem
No no, I ain't got a problem
It's you with the problem.
