What a Waster is a song by The Libertines that was first released as a single in June 2002. The song was initially left off debut album Up the Bracket, but was later included as the 13th track on a subsequent re-issue, and as track #13 on the American, Australian, and Japanese versions of the CD.
The music video to Don't Look Back Into the Sun features Doherty stealing copies of the What a Waster 7" from a Virgin megastore shop. The song was used in the film The Football Factory, and covered by Adam Green both as part as the Babyshambles sessions and as a B-side to his own singles.
Peter Doherty has described "What a Waster" as "the most self-explanatory song in the history of pop." A "waster", as used in the song, is an excessive user of drugs and alcohol.
